Previously we have had several requests for pillar candles in solid colors, but due to the nature of palm wax this had been (or so we thought) impossible. We have tried numerous ideas on how to make this happen but until now success was very limited and difficult to reliably reproduce. A few times we came close but couldn't figure out why.

There seems to be no single "authoritative" history of candles that I can find so I will go with what I "know". Depending on the source, candles were first developed in either China or Egypt about 4000 years ago although the Romans are generally credited with making the first truely wicked candles. These first candles were made from tallow, a by-product of rendering animal fat. As a result they smoked badly and smelled even worse.

I like the idea of blending 2 scents in the same candle. This makes for some really creative combinations.
